The Nicodemus project is a mentorship program based on sacraments, virtue and fellowship with an aim to personalize and strengthen the Catholic faith for both the mentee and mentor in a simple and straightforward approach.

The project pairs middle-school aged Catholics with members of the Newman community in an easy-going environment. We work with Mentors, Mentees, and Parents to ensure the match is a good fit and will lead to growth towards Christ!

For more information, or to get involved, email the Nicodemus Project Director Miles Dodge at miles@osunewman.org.

Meet the Mentors!

Hear why the Mentors want to serve:

  • “In high school, I encountered the love and friendship of Christ through the guidance of a mentor. I believe that it is through one on one relationships that Christ wants to touch individual hearts and transform lives. I want to be a mentor for young adults, so that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I can encourage, strengthen, and be a friend to a fellow child of the Father. I want to be a person that can support and be a listening ear to another in their time of need, to rejoice with them in times of celebration, and to share experiences in the day to day activities. I am very excited to get to spend quality time with a cool young person and chat!”

  • “I want to be a mentor to help guide someone else’s faith journey, as well as to continue learning alongside that person. Mentors have played a significant role in my life, and I would love to pass that on to someone else.”

  • “I would love to be a mentor to help further someone's faith as well as my own. I think I can learn a lot from this program and truly believe it will bring myself and another closer to Jesus! I've always loved those who mentored me and I hope to do that as well. I can't wait to be a part of this program!”

  • “I have had many great mentors, and the Nicodemus Project is a unique opportunity to pay it forward to the next generation. I think back to when I was in middle school and wonder how a Catholic college student mentor could have changed my perspective of faith at a younger age. “

  • “I want to be a mentor because I find value in taking steps in your faith at a young age. To be young and to follow Christ is such a beautiful thing. I come from a big family and I absolutely love spending time with my younger cousins. They bring me so much joy and I enjoy getting to understand their different perspectives on life and faith. I believe that finding a community and having an older role model within the faith is a great opportunity to learn and grow. It is important to strive towards holiness with someone else, someone who is willing to keep you accountable and someone who can be a resource for whatever it is that you need. Because of the importance that I find in this, I want to take this exciting step in becoming a mentor!“

  • “To help young people grow in their relationship with God and in their faith, and to help them learn more about themselves and the talents God has given them.”

  • “To share faith in a personal and relatable way :)“

  • “I want to be a mentor because I remember being in middle school and not knowing who to turn to with questions about faith, life, and why I believed what I believed. I want to be a friend and a guide to someone who is experiencing the ups and downs of the early teenage years in hopes that through my sharing of faith, my future mentee would strive for holiness in their years to come.”

  • “I believe mentorship is one of the best ways to influence another person for the good. Personally, I experienced many fruits from being mentored while I was at college. Through my mentor I was able to learn from the wisdom of others without making the same mistakes myself.”
